NEWS UPDATE: I received this letter about the drivers for ATI cards and my demo. Hello Bobby, I can definately see the issue here and will submit a bug on this, thanks for letting us know. I've been able to narrow down the problem a little so hopefully the fix is pretty straightforward and should happen relatively quickly. I'm curious though about the sample as I received the original message followed by this second one. Both had attachments with the same name and size but I can't check the timestamp to see if there was any difference. Can you confirm that they are the same sample code? thanks, Jeff Royle ATI Developer Relations devrel@ati.com This is an major update. I redid the the stencil buffer draw routine. more like lesson 27. New Link Should work on ATI now... This time it's Carmack Reverse. Download Link w,s - move forward backwards. a,d - strafe i,j,k,l - move light1 arrows - rotate and down arrow stops numpad 4,5,6,8 - move model vertical and horizonal. I know it works on Nvidia cards, but if you have an ATI card(s) then feedback on the demo would be great. With an oooolllld ATI (rage 128 pro) it simply crash (the instruction at "0x0000" referenced memory at "0x00000" The memory could not be "read")

two yellow points.
If vsync is off, then the light might have moved too quick and out of the ''box''.

Sphax: i don''t check for the VBO extension and just load it.
so, the buffer elements are NULL, referencing memory zero.

I hate it when people refer to drivers when their app isn''t working

GeForce 4 Ti 4200
4.5.2.3

Seems to run nicely, but I notice some bad artifacts on the "light" parts of the model when you get close...like parts of other black tris bleeding through. Maybe it''s a problem with one of your caps?

btw, what model format do you use? I too am working on stencil shadows, but I got slowed down by so very many malformed md2 models out there. I found a workaround on nvidia''s site, but it''s 800+ lines long, so I don''t fully understand it yet. Just wondering how others deal with bad tris for silhouette determination...

UnIcron: The models were md2 that i convert to my ''own'' model format.
The BEST model is caleb. no hidden tris there or mistakes.
actually the demo preforms faster than that. I been playing around with the coding for ATI cards.

The best way, is to edit these models. I''m actually using lesson 27 visibility and connectivity code for ''outline''.
then carmack reverse with front face cap and back face cap.
i get over 140 fps w/ 3 models and 2 lights.
Most other demos are not updated for current drivers. Nvidias are great ,so far. ATI wrote and said i found a bug that they will correct quickly.

Both release4 and release5 crap out on my system. I get a window but it then crashes, nothing drawn.

I have a Visiontek GF3Ti200, and running 40.72. (If I run newer drivers I can no longer play DVDs on my machine cuz MS and nVidia don''t like my Macrovision chip.)
