walls are diving me up the wall

i am making a ninja rpg but being a beginner have no idea how to create walls that u cant walk through. i am using C and my compiler is the gameboy development kit. if u can help me please reply

Hi!

It depends on the way you make your game. Is it a top-down-view, or isometric or....

General i think the best way is to move your character, then check if on the new position is a wall. If there is a wall reset the characters position to the position before the move.

I usually run a "check ahead" function and if it tells me I can''t go through a wall I never move the character. A lot easier, that way.
