Vertex color changing or device changing ?
Hello
I''m implementing an effect handler (fade in/out, blinking, etc) and I''d like to know which is better: to change the face''s vertex colors every frame during the effect or to change the Direct3D device texture operators (D3DTOP_MODULATE, D3DTOP_BLENDDIFFUSEALPH, etc), not every frame but frequently?
Thank you a lot guys!
See you

the second one sounds better... but depending what you would like to do exactly...
yess, the first one is more independent of the hardware capabilities of the video card...
but everybody should use Geforce or better!!!!

Keep in mind, you don''t want to change vertex information frequently when you have a hardware T&L card. If you change it frequently you are eliminating all the benefit those type of cards give you.
A better approach is to either change the material and/or light levels and leave the vertexes & textures alone.
