I want to make my own model file format and I know how to load a bitmap to texture with, but what I want to know is how to save that bitmap as part of my model file? To load the bitmap I use the CreateDIBSection to create an HBITMAP and so on and so forth, but how would I take that HBITMAP and save it?

Good question!

My only advice on this is to obtain the format lay-out of a Bitmap file.

However, I''ve been unsuccessful in obtaining it...

The win32 library has functions for saving bitmaps (although I can''t remeber there names off the top of my head). Also, wotsit.org has all the file specifications you could ever possibly need. Hmm... Accually, I remember an article about saving bitmaps here.

This is 1/2 way off topic, but I think it's useful information.

Gamedev.net hosts many sites, which are listed on the right of the main page. (You have to scroll down past the ads and survey, it never used to be this bad.)

Wotsit's File Formats is a great resource when looking for a file type's actual format.
