what i am doing is trying to make a hacking wannabe game with a cross between Uplink and Dark Signs. I know this sounds lame but meh. I want to know if any know where i could find some ACTUAL code on console windows. Even ones similar to that found in Quake, thta drop down. THankyou

dood dont u think i haven''t tried that... youd be surprised that u never find a straight answer.... the best one i have found the comments were in french and could pull it apart because of this... i was looking more for other peoples stripped down consoles

I dont play much games so im not sure what you aiming at.. but.

I havent made a consol for input ( but thats not an openglquestion anyway, so that part is up to you )

The rendering is made by one texture with all signs in it, and then i have one array with vertex position and texturecoord data for each letter in the texture. They should be arranged in some way to be easily translated from ascii to an index number, then i draw a quad from position charindex*4 and 4 as length.. that prints one character, then advance the position (glTranslate) as much as needed to fit the character, and repeat for the next char. at the end of the line, reset the x position, and advance in y pos as much as needed to get a new clear line.

all the scrolling and similar ( wordwrap..) routines are not included in the drawingpart and must be done elsewhere.

thanx for that did help but i have another query. What do you do when the user enters a command? What do you do with the text then? Is it stored in a big char array or seperate smaller ones? And these move, or let the text and previous commands move into them? if u can answer this ur a legend
