I want to use single vertex''s, lots of them, about 700 or so for particle effects, like gun powder fire spray, im wondering if there are any speed problems i know someones going to say test it, but my wrapper is going to be a while to finish, and i don''t want to start using it until ive completed most of it. And if someones tried this before, they could just say Thanks

Wouldn''t it be easier to just stick them all in a vertex buffer to avoid the speed problems?

Single vertices ain''t no fun ... If you''re thinking single vertices are going to give you some sort of realism, then we will have to wait till you have it implemented and running.

Try point sprites. You would reqire lesser sprites. Overall performance could rise. 700 vertices -> 30 to 40 sprites.

naku thats what i meant having them all in one buffer, but to draw heaps instead of sprites like udayk said.

the only reason i didnt want to use sprites is because im quite lazy at making sprites, all the sequences and making it look nice!

i thought if it was possible with no speed problems to use particles
