Visual C semi hanging on compile
When i compile one of my source files the compilation seems to hang. I can save my work and make adjustments but thats all as everthing else seems to complain about a build in progress. So i have to go to task manager and shut VC down before restarting it. Its really annoying me. Why is it hanging, is it something t do with my code or is it a fault. Im running on win xp with VC++ 6.0
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Is the code on a network drive? It went silly slow for me when I was compiling code on the server.
It's also feasible that you broke VC6, there's lots of C++ code it can't handle. (I can put VC7.0 in an infinite loop just by typing certain code).

No im just compiling it all on my home computer (no network) on the c drive. All the other source files compile ok, its just this one that has a header file. I''ll have to check the code over then. It must be my fault.
Thanks
Thanks
no, it''s probably not your fault. i used to have the same problem and it would occur in all of my projects, not just one of them. only thing that helped was to reinstall vc.
Strange thing is, this is only happening with this one source file and associated header. I have tried reinstalling C++ but that hasn''t done anything.
The files are really small, just a simple class and the project only consists of these two files. I''ve used
#ifndef ...
#define ...
#endif
but still can''t figure it out. If anyone would be so kind and actually check if this happens on their computer i''d be greatful. I can email the 2 files (about 8k) on request.
Can anyone help me??? Im going crazy!

It happens to me, too. I''ve reinstalled VC++6.0 twice now, and it won''t stop doing it. That''s under Win2k Pro. I''ve stopped using VC6 now in favour of Dev-CPP for that very reason.
Right i know its really easy to blame everything else under the moon but yourself when your compiler refuses to work but this is something else as it aint even telling me why its hanging. I,ve been out of the country for 8 weeks and before i left none of this ever happened. During my absence the blaster worm shit hit town and when i returned i needed patching up via win xp etc which was only a week ago. I hadnt touched vc++ untill yesterday when i nocitced all this hanging bullshit.. surely this cant be coonected.. has anyone else noticed this crap. I only say because ive had two people say the same thing.!!! I do not want to have to relearn a new compiler.
BASICALLY :- in any instance can my code casue it to hang during compile and in what instance (if definable)!!!
