I have a newbie question regarding inline functions and inline class methods. I''m teaching myself C++ using "Teach yourself C++ in 21 days". When inline functions are covered it is said to be cautious when using them because, depending how they are used, they can cause an increase in size to the executable program. On their section covering basic classes they show that you can make class methods inline as well. They don''t however mention anything of performance overhead by doing this. Do inline class methods carry the same overhead possibilities as normal functions do? I suspect they would, however i seem to be seeing alot of inline implementation being used in regards to classes on alot of the example source code i''ve been reading. Also is inline used much in advanced programming?
