3ds files (chunks)

Could somebody give me a small a example on how to read a ''chunk'' properly from a 3ds file I''ve already tried doing it in my code but there''s no way I can get it to work properly, I''m using fread to read in the first chunk and then I check and see if it is a valid 3ds file but it says is not but it is...Just a sample would be very helpful thanks.

Actually that''s what I''m using as a guide along with the file specifications but I can''t get that part to work...
Erm never mind figured out what I was doing wrong...
