To learn the language, there is the online documentation and tutorial provided by Sun here

The Java Tutorial

For a more complete book, I own this

Java 2 The Complete Reference

Schildt also has a beginners book which is less expensive

Java 2 A Beginner's Guide

You also want a book on Java games. There are a couple older ones, but this one by Petchel and Lamothe seems more up to date. Has some bad reviews though

Java 2 Game Programming

For a brand new book, try this

Developing Games in Java
