I have downloaded, build and installed the openAL libraries and headers... now if i look the tutorials which are available on the net, most use "alutLoadWAVFile", which is (as i guess) supposed to be declared in AL/alut.h . however there isn''t any alutLoadWAVFile declared in that file... where can i download the appropiate headers? or is alotLoadWAVFile not supported on linux?

OpenAL''s CVS supplies the same headers for every platform. alutLoadWAVFile is includes in the default ALUT headers. I don''t know what''s wrong with your headers, the Debian-supplied ALUT header I have includes it as well as the (already mentioned) up-to-date CVS header.

You can check out the CVS from opensource.creative.com, if you''re interested. Why wouldn''t OpenAL supply a simple function on every platform? It''d kind-of defeat the purpose .
