Rendering Algos

Could some one please elaborate which rendering algorithm is better Triangle (ROAM) or Square(quad tree) I am looking to develop a simulation game like NFS. Also what tool should i use for generating the terrain. Thank You Osman Ahmad Khan khansahib44@hotmail.com

I thinck NFS uses Patch/Bezier Surfaces! One time I''ve saw in Discovery Channel a documentary about imersion and they showed the team''s site! There, we could see a computer with 3D Studio Max and a track in it!

There isn''t single best one. All of them come with a cost.

Just decide what you want, find the problems and create what you need.

My terrain does not need CLOD or roam, since the view distance will be always fairly limited(3rd person) if you do CLOD or ROAM when you don''t need them, then you are wasting CPU cycles. If you are rendering big terrain with huge view distance, then you''ll need either one of them. Both are for different purposes.
