HI, I have taken a tutorial at gametutorials.com and compiled it. Then I added my own stuff to it. Would it be ok to sell that, or no??? I am not sure if it is ok to take tutorial games, enhance, add to them, and sell them. THANKs

Realistically it depends on the exact code you''re talking about - for example there''s code that GameTutorials.com may have copied from MSDN and code that isn''t so unique in its nature.

Additionally, whether you need to have complete ownership or not makes a difference (as with open source software). If you''re selling a game to a publisher, quite often they''ll want 100% ownership of the game code - if part of that ownership isn''t yours to assign, you''re in a dodgy position.

The simplest and cheapest thing to do is get in touch with GameTutorials.com and ask them what their policy on this is - and preferably get it in writing from someone in authority there.

If this is for an existing business or of serious financial importance, get in touch with a specialist IP lawyer - no advice on a message board is going to be 100% legally secure or complete.

Seems to me that your plan would breach every one of those terms of use (as well as being a breach of copyright).

Don''t even worry that.. The way they worded it, they can sue about anyone who ever visited their site, even if they wrote their own original code based on theories behind the demos (which aren''t even that well written mind you) They teach commonly known procedures you would also find out if you''ve ever read any other articles on other sites or looked at other demos (for example gamedev..) They could have some trouble proving your code is a modified version of their code, unless it''s an obvious cut n'' paste.

I think they are more concerned about you downloading their files and starting another "gametutorials" site on which you host their demos as if you wrote them..
