General purpose physics engine GPPE

what are some common physics that go in to every engine for say a fighting game or action rpg? i would like to code a GPPE dll or lib so i can reuse the code in more specific games later on w/o recoding physics that are more or less univeral, but im not sure which physics are universal in game code.

I guess things like gravity and collision response between arbitrary objects are pretty much equal in most games.
