Gba startup & flashcard question

I own an XG-Flash for my GBA. I have plenty of experience in C/C++ programming. I can use SDL, OpenGL, and parts of DirectX. Anybody have some advice on starting up for GBA. From what I understand, it is alot like DOS. I have tried the HAM SDK, but I would rather use a more open library, but I can settle with that if I have to. If you have a flashcard, please share about that too!

Hi I would suggest getting the popular DevKitAdvanced compiler which is just GCC targeted for gba programming. I would also suggest getting some hardware documentation from gbadev.org and devrs.com/gba and writing your own library.
