Sound problems in SDL

For some reason when I try to play 44100khz sounds in SDL the sound gets all weird (clicks and artefacts). 22050 works like normal though but i really want 44100 sound. Could anyone help?

Google or read the documentation about "SDL audio buffer size". The higher your sample rate, the larger the buffer should be. 4096 is usually enough. I can''t remember the function to set the value since I use OpenAL nowadays.
