Last night I was looking at all the pictures of the terrain engines, some of which are extremely good. Today, I was walking along the beach, and it came back to me, and I wondered if anyone has ever simulated one? I imagine the breaking waves would be very difficult. I''m not looking for advice to do it or anything (I might do, but no time now), but has anyone done it?

There are a few papers you might want to check out:

- Realistic Simulation of Curling and Breaking Waves by Brian W. Smith

- A Procedural Model for Interactive Animation of Breaking Ocean Waves by Stefan Jeschke, Hermann Birkholz and Heidrun Schmann
