Where can I learn more about messaging...

Where can I learn more about how MSN messenger indicates that I have recieved an new email, whenever I get a new email in my hotmail account. I just want to know how that whole process works. THX

it just has a function that checks your email..

Doesnt the message originate from hotmail. I dont think the messenger service is the checking for messages constantly, the interupt is coming from the hotmail account.
Can someone help me out here, please.

and hotmail is a service of MSN just like messenger.. and it dosent check for messages constantly in fact i can remeber a seting in the options to check like every 5,10,15 mins or so... it is just like setting up hotmail in outlook it is just going thru Messenger... now idont know what there code looks like so i cant give you a code example...
