Can anyone recommend me some books to get me started learning about Application and OS Network Security (games related stuff would be good, but general is as good) and Cryptology? Cheers, DanielB

Applied Cryptography by Bruce Schneier.

This is easily *THE* book on the subject, and the only book I''ve seen that clearly demonstrates cyptography, even for people who aren''t so mathematically inclined.

As for actual security, I''ve not seen a good book on this subject.

Cryptography and Network Security: Principles and Practice (3rd Edition)by William Stallings

Its newer and better then Applied Cryptography. Which is also a good book but was released in 1995. It also doesn''t cover as many things as Cryptography and Network Security either.

You''ll enjoy the heck out of it.

I have to add my vote for Stallings'' book. I haven''t read the whole thing yet, but the parts I have read are quite good and easy to understand.
