creating both a dll and lib
Just wondering if it''s possible to, in Visual Studio .NET, to have a project that when I compile, it makes not only a dll but a lib? Like it only compiles the code once but does a link for the dll and a link to make the lib. I have a program that needs this code as a dll, but a different project (which compiles to a dll) that also needs this code but as an lib.

I've not used VC.NET but in VC6 if you create a DLL project when you build that project the compiler automatically creates a .lib along with the .dll which you link to in projects which will need the .dll

Yes, but it''s a different kind of LIB. It''s an "import library", which contains just enough code to defer execution to the DLL. In contrast, when you build a static library, that LIB contains all the code needed for the functionality of the library.
