I just started working with direct x and I just got lights working however their lighting looks absolutely horrible on my scene. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do to improve the lighting in DX9? I pretty much just have the basics set right now. like the stuff from the lighting tutorial except point lights instead of directional.

For highest quality, use textures to map lights to your scene.
However, it is beneficial to study the basic lighting theory before attempting per-pixel lighting.

The scene is probably ugly because your using a too low amount of polygons. Try using a grid of 32x32 squares.
