hello, when mipmapping a shape with one texture, which is comprimised of polygons (each of a set of texture coordinates, naturally), is the level of texture decided per polygon? or is the level of texture decided for the whole shape, or for each polygon? Thanks in Advance, Amir

Ilici is right!

Per fragment.
To give you a simple visual idea of this: you can say this is on a per pixel base. So before a pixel is written to your screen, a mipmap is chosen. The mipmap chosen depends on the size of the texture on your screen. When the mipmap is chosen, a pixel from your mipmap is copied to your screen.

This is not entirely corrent (because there's interpolation, colouring and stuff), but I hope this gives you a better idea.

By fragment do you mean triangle?

Typically a fragment is a pixel. PixelShader = Fragment Program

actually a pixel with depth information
