Including .rc files in Dev-C++ projects

It compiles them with winres.exe automatically when added. Make sure that "Include With Compilation" is checked under the Files tab in the project properties. Also, it goes odd when adding a resource file. IT might be bettr to create a *.rc file with say notepad, than add that file to your project.

Writing out the commands yourself, it would be something like:

gcc -c source-file -oobject-file
windres -iresource-file -oobject-file
gcc all-your-object-files -mwindows -oexecutable-to-create

I'm pretty sure Dev-C++ takes care of doing that though.


I checked. Unless you're writting your own makefile, Dev-C++ seems to arrange for windres to compile it. So just click 'Add to project', select the resource file, compile, and it should work.
