Cleaning OGL texture env

I''m trying to use the ARB multitexturing extension to render my terrain. I use two methods: 1: rendering width a detail texture 2: texture and alpha texture Both methods work good but when I use them together all textures are almost white. How do I fix this?

thats because its a state machine, if you want to reset it to a known state you have to do it yaself.
If you''ve fiddled with the matrix for the texture unit you could get around that problem by pushing the matrix, changing it, drawing and then poping it back off afterwards
