D3D and Collision Detection

Hi! Which collision detection should be used in a racing game? And is there any tutorials available concerning collision detection? The game is 3D-based. I''m trying to make my tire objects detect altitude differences in the terrain. Thanks.

Where is the connection to D3D?

You could make it simple and just take a vector through the center of tires and straight down. Use this vector to find where it instersect the ground. Then compare the intersection point to the tire center to see how far above the ground it is.
