Quake like console design question

No real input here, but as a HUGE Quake fan I could not resist

In the Quake engines (this includes HalfLife, ECT) you can type the first letter or two of a command and hit the TAB key. This will list all commands that start with those letters

And with Half-Life''s Steam now, the console brings up a popup box with all the commands matching what you''ve typed so far and narrows it down from there.

I was going to go one about one being able to do that in Quake III etc., but I''ve just run Q2 and found out it can do it too! You''re not going to tell me even Q1 could do it are ya? I can''t believe I was unaware of that for so long! No matter, nobody died as a result!

That pop up box seems like a useful addition, right enough. This is somewhat like what MS Visual Studio does. Can you select and scroll with the mouse, or is it all purely keyboard still (in the next Half-Life)?
