Petition to retire/reserver Yann L's name

... as well as to make his profile retain it''s moderator rights. He marks an era of great programmers that were also willing to help. I say we either retire or reserve the Yann L name. Just sign below if you agree: Dragon88

I agree, but I don'' think this petition is necessary...I don''t believe Yann is going to close his account here, and afaik, you cannot have 2 accounts with the same username. He should be safe.

personally i think all his posts ACTUALLY dealing with graphics design, programming, and theory should be put as [ a ] memorial post(s) in dedication to him.

and for those who can complete can just submit the addendums to Dave or Kevin.

especially the thread about "material/shaer system implementation" should be, at least, announced somewhere - i think this thread is a valueable ressource for everyone thinking about implementing such thing.

There is no way to delete accounts; once you register a name, it''s there as long as GameDev.net exists. Even manually editing the database isn''t feasible due to the posts already posted by that person. And imagine the chaos if people could take others'' names... especially moderator names! No, there''ll be no "retiring" of Yann''s name because all our names are ours only.

Is there the possibility to get all of Yann L''s threads and comments collected together in a zip or pdf? I''m sure it would be a valuable collection of information.

So... now Yann is a demigod to you guys? Jesus, everytime someone with some skill comes around you all jump on the bandwagon and ride their nuts into the sunset. I mean hey, I like Yann as much the next guy and I read what he has to say because he knows what he''s doing, but I don''t want to "memorialize" his effing posts.

The diskussions and explanations from Yann L are very interesting and detailed. I''ve saved some of them but it would be nice to have them collected in a clean way. Unfortunately it is not possible to list all posts of a person. I think it would be the right time while Yann is leaving to save his effort. That was the idea behind it. Perhaps als a CHM or PDF so that it can be downloaded alltogether.
