Just wanted to know whether people use D3DX or not. I know it''s very helpful, but makes my programs quite big. It is good for building an application to test stuff, but do people use it in demos/games or not? --------------------------------------- Let''s struggle for our dream of Game! http://andrewporritt.4t.com

people on directxdev uses it .some of the functions in it can''t be done manually by your self (as compiling shaders).also they were tested, optimized and debuged so why not to use them?

Shader compiling can be done manually, some header of the SDK contained all the opcodes and register mappings (don't remember which).
In fact, all D3DX functionality can be duplicated, but since it is extremely optimized for speed, i see no reason not to use it.
It'll take a while if one decides to write such a library oneself

EDIT:
d3d9types.h contains the shader compiler related stuff, for anyone who's interested.
