Bezier and nurbs surfaces

Hi guys, I am a newbie to OpenGL and most importantly to curved surfaces. I know that openGL support nurbs surface drawing. however as a newbie to both openGL and nurbs I found the function call to draw this stuff a bit hairy. the tutorials I have from the net either assume you''re familiar with the topic or if not they bombard you with maths junkies. for those already familiar with the topic and APIs, what does ''stride'' means in layman terms, and what does ''knots'' means too. i am trying to draw a long 2d curved surface of say 80 points . can i pass these points as an array of 2*40 points straight to the funxtion call? Many Thanks.

First you need to learn something about parametric surfaces (and of course NURBS in specifically). You can google for some information. You can also start by reading this:

Note that the sample code at the end of the article uses DirectX but the concepts are what you need.
