Hey, I''m painfully new at DirectX, so please bear with me. Basically I want to be able to write text onto the screen while using Direct3D. I tried to use the GDI TextOut(), but it visibly slowed down a simple example, so I definately want to avoid that. I''ve thought about maybe using a sprite alphabet...but my DX knowledge is too limited to know exactly how to implement it. ANY info would be of use. Thanks.

Have a texture containing all the characters, store U and V coordinates for each character, render vertices mapped to the selected character to the screen.

Rhe characters are stored in ASCHII-order, btw.

I know this was not a very good answer to your question, but I''m very tired and hopefully it will give you some ideas.
