problem with textures
I''m trying to load a texture into directx 8 that is 512 x 128, but it won''t load. but if I make it smaller then it works. this doesn''t make since to me.
What the texture contains is font letters.
Perhaps you''ve hit your cards texture size limit? That seems hard to believe, though, in this day and age.
If you''re using an old Voodoo card, then it has a maximum of size of 256. You could likely pick up a TNT2 for $20 or so and it would be worlds better.

Check your TextureCaps with the caps viewer. The meanings of the caps are described under "D3DCAPS9" in the DX documentation.
