I have a perl script that works with XML, building an xml parse tree, and the script eats up about 42 megs of memory, and then the rest of the script runs slow as heck. I have lots of memory on my computer and nothing else is runing, but it seems like this usage of 42 megs is slowing the rest of the script down. Why is that? If I have lots more memory for the script to use, why does it grind to a halt once ive used up the first 42? Is there some kind of memory limit for a perl process when using activestate perl on Windows(2000)? I hope someone can help!
