API multiple definitions

I am writing a program using multiple files and SDL. The main file #includes SDL.h, but some of the other files require some SDL functions. Is there a way to avoid re-including the entire SDL library in each file that uses SDL? I don''t care about compile time, but I don''t want the final executable to be overly bloated. If the compiler (mingw32) will remove the extra definitions, please tell me, otherwise I don''t want to re-include the SDL API in most of my files.
