Hi, I recently tried to get a simple opengl program to work. I just picked a VC++ example from Nehe's homepage and compiled it. So far so good, but the program didn't use my Voodoo2 (I know that it's old), instead it used software-rendering (my ordinary 2d-card). I thought I would solve the problem by copying the 3dfxV2-dll to my directory and rename it to opengl32.dll, shouldn't that fix it? The program actually used my V2-card but for some strange and irritating reason it sometimes crashes when quiting. Please, tell me what to do to fix my crashing program! (I use VC++6) Thanks in advance! /Mankind gave birth to God. Edited by - DDnewbie on 7/17/00 2:59:13 AM

A) dont use nehe''s code
B) get a real card

Then if you have problems, go to www.glsetup.com

Hi, thanks for the reply.

As for your answers:
A: Why shouldn''t I use nehe''s code? It should work and I just want to have a running opengl-application. I don''t mind whether the code is fast or not. Well, not TOOO slow.

B: I told you I had an old card, and I don''t want to buy a new one quite yet. Q3 works fine on my V2.

Please, tell me how to get running openGL-application using my V2.

Thanks,

Since you just want to get something running, get the latest V2 reference drivers, find 3dfxvgl.dll, copy it to your app''s directory, and rename it to opengl32.dll. That''ll get normal OpenGL apps running on your computer.

Once you get a bit further along, and especially if you''ll be distributing your apps, you''ll want to dynamically load 3dfxvgl on voodoo cards and work with it that way. You can check out Ryan Haksi''s web page for some very helpful code for that.
