when I use sin(x) or cos(x) in c it gives me the wrong value. for example sin(90) comes up as .89xxxxxxxxxxx and not 1. What''s going on? is this normal?

sin and cos take values as radians not degrees,
so you need to convert 90 into radians
Degrees / 180 * PI
