glRasterPos pbm

Hi, I''ve got troubles using glRasterPos. What I want to do is to display a local coordinate center with its dimensions not varying while the viewpoint moves, as max does. What I tryed to do :
glRasterPos3f( x, y, z ); // position the raster at point place
glBegin( GL_LINE);        // draw the line upward
glvertex2f( 0,0 );
glvertex2f( 0,10 );
glEnd();

 
Nothing is drawn ! What''s wrong ? Am''I mis-using glRasterPos3f ? Before I had this and all was ok.
glBegin(GL_LINES);
	glVertex3f( x, y, z );
	glVertex3f( x, y+1.0f, z );
	glEnd();
