Locking problem

Hi, when i'm locking the backbuffer under direct3d 9 an error occurs... i use the following code:
	if (FAILED(m_lpBackBuffer->LockRect(&rectLock, NULL, D3DLOCK_NO_DIRTY_UPDATE)))
	{
		// this happens!
		return FALSE;
	} 

the first thought was that i didn't receive the backbuffer correctly, but some line before the method GetDesc works correctly... what is my mistake?
