[OPENGL] Rotations

I''m having troubles making these 2 things work in opengl: 1) You have a quad, it is facing on the z axis, and is textured with a crappy car picutre from the top. Now, what I want to do is to be able to rotate the car, and have it move in the direction it is pointing. Also the car has to rotate around its own axis, and not the central axis. And how would I do it so I can say rotate the front of the car at one time, and than rotate the back of the car while the front says put (360 kinda thing..) 2) A spaceship: It has the ablility to turn left right, roll, yaw up and down, and accelerate/deacclearate. How would I implent this to have realisitic physics? (im having a hell of a time implenting physics and vectors in opengl...)

though this doesn''t do any rolling , cause it was a bit to dificult to control the ship. but its quite easy to add in though u have to use matrices to implement the rotations correctly
