Faulty Vertex Buffer?

Right. I've been having some problems with the D3D DrawIndexedPrimitive function... it (in WinME) gives me a library error (and in XP) a blue screen of death. The odd thing is, I pass it the same parameters each time I call it... and oddly enough it works about half the time... I think there may be a problem with the creation of the vertex buffer..I don't have my code with me but is there any reason why the creation would spontaneously fail sometimes and work others? I think I can post the executable... tell me if you're missing any libraries (it's in VB6 so I don't think there should be anything missing.)
