I know VBOs are used to hold vertex data, but I am also using it to hold normals, texture coordinates. Is this wise? Is this allowable with VBOs? Is everyone else using VBO like that? Thanks

Of course. Definition of ''vertex'': position, normal, texcoords, colours, weights, bone indices, fog coords, etc. Everything that defines the properties of a vertex by means of a data stream.

You can even use VBO to store face indices (if your hardware supports it).
