I was wondering if anyone could help me out.. on my website www.turt99.com I have a little character right at the top, I''m not a graphics person and I''m having alot of trouble making a walking animation that I like.. I want to make that the body and then just have floating arms and legs just balls for hands and domes for feet type thing, not attached.. mine never look smooth so I was wondering if anyone knew of a site where I could see a good animation to reference or if anyone could make an animation.. I need up, down, left and right.. I don''t think I''ll diagonal but if you think its easy then I''m open.. Thanks for your time

I know these responses can sometimes sounds rude, but but I assure you, it''s not meant in that way.

This should help. If not the hints or the links...then the numerous animated examples.

These links are good, however they both just show the side view of the walk and they are much more then what I'm looking for, the character in question is going to be something like a 32X48 pixel sprite, it would be hard to animate all that motion in a few frames at that size..

This is the character in question:

EDIT: Do you think this character needs arms and legs? the other option would be to leave it as is and if he/she holds something it will just float in the general area of a hand.. the game will be a sort of adventure type game

I'm thinking arms and legs would be good to show different actions like how would I show jumping other then floating higher?

Here is another link to a walk cycle tut, with front view and side view: http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml

While I don't think your character needs arms and legs, it does need at least hands and feet, otherwise, what's the point of a walk cycle?

No the charater will not have arms and legs, I guess my real question was if the character needed to have hands and feet.. Technically he doesn''t need to walk he could just bob around

Well... I guess he could inchworm around. But if you want to have a walkcycle anywhere in there, you need hands and feet. Even if they''re the cartoon floaty type characters like Rayman uses.

If you don''t want to try to figure out yourself how to create the bobbing cycles for those floaty parts, then I recommend grabbing some old Genesis or SNES games that have that sort of character and then studying those.
