Why not disallow HTML tags in posts?

This is something that I have thought about for some time. Why not completely remove HTML tags in forum posts? Other forums seem to do just fine without them, and it would make it much easier for you The necessary HTML tags could be replaced with the traditional UBB tags, [IMG], [URL] etc And while I'm at it, the [source] tag doesn't work properly, you can't have two source sections in the same post. Very annoying. - WitchLord Edited by - WitchLord on 7/21/00 8:31:17 PM Edited by - WitchLord on 7/21/00 8:34:04 PM

Exactly my point

As I see it the only necessary tags are:

[URL]
[SOURCE]
[ITALIC]
[BOLD]
[QUOTE]

Possibly a few others that I can''t think of right now.

Why would you want to remove them in the first place? Has someone been abusing them? If not, I think we should keep the HTML and add the UBB stuff if it''s not here already...

No, no one has been abusing the HTML tags. It''s just that I believe it would be easier for the one that develops this board if they are disallowed completely. It will also be easier for the poster to make easily read posts, especially when posting source code.

There are too many conflict between HTML tags and programming operators, for example #include, <<, [i], etc.
