Just finished learning the basics of C and have taken up to reading the SAMS book "Teach yourself Game Programming in 24 hours", and like all SAMS books I''ve run into a problem. The book uses Win32 API to make the very small basic games, but only the second chapter actually explains only 10% of what much of the stuff means. I didn''t expect much from the book, only some practice before starting Andre''s Tricks of the Windows Guru''s book, but so far I''m pretty disapointed. I haven''t given up yet, while I know Win32 API isn''t even used much anymore (right?) and DirectX is the biggy, I want to at least get the basics of it down so I can finish and understand this book. Any advice? Websites you''d recomend? Quick tutorials, or cheap books?
