does anyone here know a device list of phones with java midp 1 and 2, which includes info about speed, screen and last but not least: memory (heap and jar-size)?? this one does not feature memory: http://java.sun.com/webapps/device/device?api=6 and maybe someone can tell me of a survey / analysation of the mobile-market which shows how many phones are new in a year, how many are sold with midp 1 or 2 and such info?! i didnt find any - every report i found is expensive greetings and such - atomhamster

Most colour cell phones actually intended for gaming will support MIDP 1.0, have 200-300k of heap space and allow 64k jar files. Support for 2.0 is nowhere near as widespread as Sun was hoping it would be by now, unfortunately.
Nokia has a list of all of their phones, catagorized by their series number (ie: 30, 40, 60).

In this list they tell you screen resolution, and in some cases, memory available to applications.

I don''t have this link off hand, sorry, but im pretty sure it was on Nokias international website.

Cheers,
Will

From the top of my head - N-Gage have 2.8mb heap and 8 (16 ?) mb RAM. 7650 - 4mb RAM and 1.4 mb heap , both have 104 mhz CPU
Why heap considerably smaller then RAM I have no idea. I'm novice in mobile development
