how to correct DDERR_WRONGMODE

Hello, when i call surface->restore(); i get this nice hResult. DDERR_WRONGMODE what should i do to recover from it? here is the description from the directX lookup program... Description: This surface can not be restored because it was created in a different mode.

It sounds like you are trying to restore the surface to a different mode than it was created in, so maybe the D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS structure got altered (specifically the BackBufferFormat member). What version of DX are you using?
