Here is a screenshot. I really love the terrain rendering, and the character rendering here. Can someone recommend some other games that have this type of rendering / terrain / characters? Anything with a free download maybe? http://www.runawaystudios.com/imgsweb/samurai.jpg

that couldnt be too hard to do by yourself.....
maybe the shadowing, but thats all

It reminds me a lot of Command and Conquer: Generals and the previous Emperor: Battle for Dune. They used very low poly models for each of the units, and I believe they used a tile based terrain system. Unfortunately, both games are not free, but you may be able to pick up Emperor fairly cheap, since it''s almost 2 years old now.
