Encryption

I have a custom pack file format, and I would like to have the ability to enrypt the data if desired. Does anyone know where I can find some good info on encryption algorithms? I''ve seen some crazy ones before, but I''m not sure if it was just a random algo of the programmer''s devising, or if it was based on some mathematical concepts.
thefreecountry.com lists some free encryption libraries. Most of the algorithms there are industry standard.
Check out the TEA encryption library. Its powerful, very fast, and very easy to implement.
