FreedroidRPG 0.9.10 released
Hi guys!
We''ve just released version 0.9.10 of the open-source (GPL License) graphical single player role playing game FreedriodRPG. For the first time in FreedroidRPG development history, this release comes with a Windows version too.
Comments and feedback would be very much appreciated. We''ve got a mailing list with address freedroid-discussion@lists.sourceforge.net.
The project home page is located at freedroid.sourceforge.net.
The Sourceforge project page can be accessed under http://sourceforge.net/projects/freedroid/.
The download page is located at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=54521.
But please don''t confuse FreedroidRPG with the Paradroid clone "Freedroid", which is also hosted at the same project page. This is, because initially FreedroidRPG development was based on the Freedroid engine. Today, you won''t see this any more unless you compare the sources directly.
Thanks for your attention and see ya, the Freedroid dev team.
Very high quality and very polished, I''m extremely impressed. This game is pretty neat, I must say. The ''control'' interface where you try to take control of the other droids by controlling more middle ''conduits'' (I have no clue on their names here) is a lot like the hacking system in Neocron. I guess those guys borrowed from the original game =P
A couple of things I''ve noticed that could be improved.
1. Put the SDL.dll in the Win32 Zip! Downloading it seperate was the suck =P
2. The intro text scrolls a little too fast. If you started the text at the bottom and then worked up (Star Wars style) instead of starting at the top and then moving it, it''d work a lot better imo.
What exactly does one do after defeating / controlling all of the droids? The level turns grey, but I can''t seem to find a way to a different level of the ship.
Very impressed here, keep up the good work =)

Thanks for the compliments. However, I got the impression that you were trying out Freedroid Classic, which is by now a complete clone of the C64 game "Paradroid" from Andrew Braybrook. FreedroidRPG was initially based on this Classic game, because after the initial intention of cloning Paradroid was complete, we started developing more and more extentions and by now we''ve arrived at a completely different game with a completely different story, look and feel. Some screenshots should be available here: http://freedroid.sourceforge.net/screenshots.php
But if you liked Freedroid Classic a lot, that''s also a nice compliment since it''s also our game.

Ok. Here is a screenshot of FreedroidRPG. It''s an old one though... Clicking the image should take you to the download page for the project. If you are using windows, PLEASE TAKE THE RIGHT PACKAGE FROM THE DOWNLOAD PAGE. It''s FreedroidRPG-0.9.10.exe, not the one from the very top of the page, which is Freedoid Classic!
The game also comes with a built-in level editor, a dialog editor and an items editor. The game is released under the GNU General Public license. A link to the project home page is already in the first post. Hope this works.
See ya, Johannes.
