How am I writing text using D3D

everytime I try to use the D3DXFont object in vb .NET I get a problem when I am trying to set a D3DXFont Object. Can anyone tell me please how can I simpley write text to the screen with Direct3D?

Could you please explain the error a little more? Does it occur when you are actually trying to create the font, or does it occur when you try to write with it. Some source code would also be helpful in fixing the problem you have.

As far as I know, the ID3DXFont interface is the easiest way to render text.

the specific problem is when I write:

public g_Font as font

it drwas a line under the "font" which it shoud not do
because I know that it is possible to write this statement,
I saw that in samples...

I don''t know what I did wrong or is there something to setup or declare before this statement that I''m missing?
