MGL any good?

Im considering the SciTech MGL library as a replacement for DirectDraw. It gets the same framerates as DirectDraw as it uses the same DirectDraw calls to the video card. It can also be used on Linux, etc.. The only problem is that it doesnt have a sound library, so a 3rdparty sound lib needs to be used. I guess DirectSound can be used under windows... Is anyone here using it? Is the MGL library easy to use? Is it compatible with the majority of video cards?

Under Linux, MGL uses OpenGL. I always thought it used OpenGL for Windows too.
